What to expect...
I provide individualized reading instruction, based on the Orton-Gillingham method for dyslexic and striving readers in Grades K-5. The first 1-2 sessions will be spent administering a series of assessments to determine a starting point for your child.

Each 60-minute tutoring session is carefully structured to include explicit instruction along with built-in time for practice and spiral review. Just as important, I prioritize building strong connections with students and making learning enjoyable. By weaving in interactive activities and fun learning games, I create a positive, engaging environment where students feel motivated, supported, and excited to grow.

What Does an Orton-Gillingham Lesson Look Like?
When your child comes to an Orton-Gillingham (OG) lesson, you can expect a session that feels structured, supportive, and encouraging. Each lesson follows a familiar routine, so your child always knows what to expect—and that predictability helps them feel safe and confident as they learn.

Here’s what it usually looks like:

-
A quick warm-up – We start by reviewing sounds, words, and skills your child has already learned. This gives them a chance to feel successful right away.

-
Learning something new – I introduce one new skill at a time (like a spelling rule or letter pattern). We use a multisensory approach, which means your child isn’t just reading or writing—they’re saying it, hearing it, tracing it, and moving with it. This helps the learning stick.

-
Practice time – Your child gets to apply the new skill by reading words, building them with cards or tiles, writing them down, and using them in sentences.

-
Real reading – We read short passages or stories together so your child can see how the skill shows up in actual reading.

-
Spelling and writing – We practice by writing words and sentences, always reinforcing the sound-symbol connection.

-
Wrap-up – We finish with a quick review so your child ends the lesson on a positive note, knowing they’ve learned and accomplished something new.

Every OG lesson is personalized to your child, so we move at their pace and celebrate their progress along the way. The ultimate goal is to give your child not just stronger reading and spelling skills, but also more confidence and joy in learning.
